About The Surety Group

The Surety Group was founded in 1977, specializing in contract surety bonds for the construction industry. We now offer bond programs to all types of businesses throughout the US. Combined, our team of surety professionals has over 50 years of experience. We introduce special bond programs throughout the year that include options that work for every business. Clients get good advice, fast answers and same-day approval on all their bond applications.

Meet Our Team

Sam H. Newberry, President

President Since 1979

Sam has spent his entire career in the surety business. He has longstanding relationships with sureties around the country, which is one of the reasons that The Surety Group can approve bond applications quickly. He has served as a board member and president of the Metro Atlanta Independent Insurance Agents and as a board member of the Georgia Independent Auto Dealer Association. He also teaches classes on a variety of subjects related to surety.

Shoni Trammell

Commercial Bond Manager Since 1986

Shoni has been working in the surety industry for over 20 years. At The Surety Group, she spent four years in the Contract Bond Department. Then she moved to commercial surety in 1991 and became a Commercial Surety Manager in 1996. She believes that tracking industry trends and developments help her to give customers the best service.

Kelly McLeod

Contract Bond Manager since 2003

Kelly specializes in contract surety bonds. She has been working with contractors to build their bonding capacity for 8 years. From start-up companies to large, experienced contractors, Kelly develops bond programs that enable contractors to grow their business. She also has extensive experience with the SBA Surety Bond Guarantee Program.

Tanya Harrelson

Commercial Bond Agent Since 2005

Tanya handles commercial bonds throughout the US and specializes in fiduciary bonds. Tanya also works to find non-traditional bond solutions for applicants who have struggled finding surety support.

Brooke Knowles

Bond Agent Since 2008

Brooke handles commercial bonds for federal, state, local and private entities throughout the US. In addition to commercial bonds, Brooke is also proficient in contract bonds and can assist contractors in finding bond programs to meet their specific needs.
